LOCATION: We will be meeting at Silver Lakes Baseball Complex every day by the Office Monday-Friday 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM Saturday 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Please arrive 10 minutes early This group is for people new to exercising or just getting back to exercise after a lapse. No one gets left behind. Our walks are usually about 30 minutes to one hour in duration. We walk at a steady pace, not racing, The secret to health and fitness is getting light exercise *consistently*, that is, about 30 to 60 minutes of exercise, about 3 to 5 times a week. The exercise doesn't have to be strenuous. In fact, you should simple raise your heartbeat only slightly, and should still be able to converse while exercising. You can accomplish by walking briskly, we don't compete with one another. The object is to get fit while having FUN! We'll walk at a steady but comfortable pace, during which it is comfortable to carry on a conversation while getting exercise. Wear comfortable clothing and sturdy walking shoes, such as tennis shoes. Carrying a water bottle is always a good idea.
Before you begin your walk, take a few moments to warm up by stretching your major muscle groups. Then, if you would like to transform a leisurely stroll into a bona fide workout, follow these guidelines Take long strides using your gluteal muscles (the muscles in the buttocks) to propel you forward.
Bend your arms slightly, swinging them as you walk.
Stand up straight with your abdominal muscles tucked in.
Maintain a pace at which you are breathing deeply but can still carry on a conversation,
although you would prefer not to.
If your breathing becomes labored and conversation difficult, you are working out too hard. Anytime you feel out of breath or have any pain, slow down or take a break.
If these problems persist, consult your Doctor.
